During the winter of 2008, I was given the opportunity to take a maskmaking seminar through the UMass Amherst Theater Department with visiting artist Larry Hunt (Masque Theatre Company). I had experience creating masks before this class, but this was my first time using neoprene. The creation of the mask was purely freeform with no starting objective other than to test what neoprene can do & create something interesting. Since this class, I have used neoprene and the techniques I learned, on a variety of other projects including the Daft Punk Mask.
